Wileman and Company, Wileman Alexandra Pattern, Early Shelley China, Shelley Plates, Victorian Plates, Antique Teacups, WC China

This set of plates is Victorian china at its finest. The pleats are mesmerizing.

The original potteries built in 1860 was by Henry Wileman. In 1862 , J.B. Shelley joined as a traveling salesman. In 1872, they began a partnership.

The mark is that of Wileman & Co. Fenton & Longton, Staffordshire, England (circa 1892-1925). The Rd No. are design registration date marks from the English Registry mark system. Rd No 60650 is a code for the year 1887 and represents the design of the decoration on the china. Wileman is often called early Shelley.

The business continued under new ownership from 1892 to 1925 under the Wileman & Co. name. In 1925 it became Shelley Potteries Ltd. This pattern is called Alexandra.

Shelley hired the finest artisans of their day and used the most expensive materials available. Their name became synonymous with quality.

Measurements: The plate is 6.5" at its widest point and is square.

This English bone china is in excellent condition. There are no chips, cracks or crazing. There are a few black specks which are expected in Victorian china. They are under the glaze. We do not sell damaged items.

The price includes all six plates plus free US shipping and free shipping insurance.
