Wedgwood China of England produced this fascinating pattern with a brown dragon encased in dark blue. This teacup and saucer is dated 1956. Wedgwood describes it as Florentine with dark blue rim. The navy paint is heavy and one can feel the luxurious design. The Chinese dragon represents nobility, wisdom and prosperity. Eastern dragons are intricately connected to the seasons and the elements and are often associated with one of the four cardinal directions.
The brown dragon is the autumn equinox. Its spirit brings wealth and health.
The saucer is 5.75" in diameter. The cup is 2.25" tall 2.5" tall including the handle and 4" from rim to rim.
