Wedgwood China of England produced an unglazed finish called Jasperware. This jasperware bowl, made about 1970, is unique because it has a base.
Wedgwood was founded in 1759 by Josiah Wedgwood, who is now remembered as the "Father of English Potters". He was in the heart of the English potteries and served his apprenticeship as a potter before setting up his own business.
After he manufactured a cream colored tea and coffee service for Queen Charlotte, wife of George III, she allowed him to style himself "Potter to Her Majesty" and to call his new cream ware Queen's Ware. The rest is history. This is one of the most sought after Wedgwood pieces in the market today.
This bowl is incised with Wedgwood on the underside.
The price includes free US shipping and free shipping insurance.

Measurements: The piece is 5.25" tall and 8" from rim to rim. It is 8.5" wide.
The decorated bowl is 3" deep. It is attached a column which is 1.75" high and has a round base with a 5.5" diameter.

This English Wedgwood is in excellent condition. We do not sell damaged items. You may buy with confidence. There are no cracks, chips or crazing. Because of its weight, we will not ship this internationally.
