This romantic Spode sugar bowl creates interest with a sailing ship that was dominant in the seafaring era. The blue-gray background has gold trim on the intertwined handles and top knob.
Each piece has a different vessel on it. The pattern is called Trade Winds. It was made from 1962 to 1993. This ship is called the Thomas Coutts. It was famous for sailing to East India and China and back is just under a year.
It was a brig built in 1820. There is also a paper label on it from Shreve, Crump and Low, a prestigious Boston shop.
