This is an antique Staffordshire teapot circa 1860.
It's called Sprig Ware design.
There is a porcelain screen inside at the spout. Notice that the lid is decorated as well as the front and back of the teapot. There is a steam hole in the lid. It is hand painted.
The inner rim of the lid is dinged from use. This is common because it is 175 years old. Normally we do not offer less than perfect items, but made an exception because of the age of this teapot.
This Staffordshire became famous because of its quality. It is made of "soft paste" and produced it at the Minerva Works in Fenton England.
There is no logo on the base.
The price also includes free shipping within the US and free shipping insurance.
Measurement: It is 10.5" from the spout to the outer edge of the handle. It is 6" wide and 8.25" high. It holds 40 ounces.
Condition: This teapot is in good condition for its age. There is no crazing or cracks . There is some wear on the inside of the lid. It is not seen when it is in use. You may buy with confidence.
