Royal Worcester was established in 1751 and is believed to be the oldest or second oldest remaining English porcelain brand still in existence today. Part of the Portmeirion Group since 2009, Royal Worcester remains in the luxury tableware and giftware market, although production in Worcester itself has ended.
This is a best seller and hard to obtain today. It is called Blue Dragon. The saucer and cup are paneled almost like pleats.
The Blue Dragon, in Chinese astrology, symbolizes power and strength. It is known to be one of the most mysterious guardians.
In Chinese culture, the colors blue and green are associated with nature, serenity, growth and health. Blue and green dragons symbolize the approaching spring, evoking the clear skies and new plants that the season brings. These colors also are representative of the East and indicate Eastern dragons.
This also blends beautifully with other blue and white ware, famously used by decorators.
