Sorry, this item has sold.

Dainty rosebuds grace the pleated folds of this spendid Shelley bone china muffin dish. Technically this is not a butter dish according to the pattern book which registered this in 1940. Many use it for butter pats however. Others use it for a covered candy dish or for lemon slices when serving tea. It is made in the dainty shape which uses pleats and ridges to catch light.

The celadon top knot is reminiscent of a graceful stem holding its floral blossom. The pattern is called Rosebud. It was one of the most popular Shelley designs. It contains pale and deep ink roses with green leaves, pale green edges and top finial.

Our price includes free shipping in the US or internationally.

Shelley became highly prized because they employed the best artisans of the day and used the most expensive materials in their production. The weight of the pieces are lightly than most and yet stronger. Many say that owning a Shelley spoils one for any other brand.

Measurements: The bottom is 6" in diameter. The well is only about an inch deep which means a hot sliced, small muffin would be divine.
The dome is about 1.25" high. When placed upon the base, the piece is 3.5" high including the top decoration. According to the backstamp, the piece was made between 1940 and 1966.
