This elegant and very rare teacup and saucer was crafted by Paragon Bone China of England. Notice the wedding bells used as garland.

There is also a horse shoe for good luck and lily of the valley flowers. The blossoms were also known as May lily. They mean "return to happiness" and most often symbolizes chastity, purity, happiness, luck and humility.

It seems that during the War, people were only allowed to use 10% of their fields for growing flowers. The rest was for vegetables. Food was hard to get. So, big bridal bouquets were not in vogue. They used long satin bookmarks in a Bible with a few flowers on the end of it or the bride would wear a suit with a corsage on it. Brides didn't have long dresses either because fabric was difficult to obtain too. They used to use their rationing coupons to buy used parachutes for the silk and cut them up to create short dresses.

Paragon, one of the finest china companies, received recognition for their quality from the Queen and the Queen Mother. In this case that was the grandmother and great grandmother of the current King Charles. It enabled them to use the double warrant on the bottom of the saucer. This is the backstamp used from 1939 to 1949.

The price also includes free US shipping, free gift wrapping and free shipping insurance. Worldwide is $20 for shipping.

Measurements: The saucer is 5.5" in diameter. The cup is 2.25" high and 4" from rim to rim.
