Hand painted Irish shamrocks drape beautifully across the basket weave Belleek teacup and saucer. It wears the fifth green mark meaning it was made between 1955 - 1965. They both have the same mark but the picture makes one look black. It is darker, but both are green.
The small pottery village of Belleek in Fermanagh County, Ireland had local clay deposits that produced exceptionally translucent goods. The look became known as Parian, a soft, mother of pearl glow that became associated with Belleek China. The world took notice and since 1853, Belleek has been prized. The inside of the cup has a very light yellow iridescent finish.
All the Belleek marks contain the Irish wolfhound, the Devenish Round Tower, the Irish harp and the touch of Irish shamrocks on each end. This lovely Parian ware is known for its translucency and quality.
The price is for one teacup and saucer, but also includes free shipping within the US, free gift wrapping and free shipping insurance.
Measurements: The saucer has a 5.75" diameter. The cup is 2.5" high and is 3.5" from rim to rim.
